As seen directly off Ring Road, Seljalandsfoss is one of the most iconic waterfalls in Iceland. The falls are just gorgeous for sunrise, so if you’re up for it wake up early! You can gain a great vantage point for photographs via a short hike behind the falls, or alternatively from the hill on the right. The 60m cliff face it is pouring off also features other water features, so don’t forget to checkout Gljúfrabúi (10 minute walk) which is just as impressive.

Level: Easy
  • Take the R249 exit off Ring Road, Seljalandsfoss is clearly signed and is visible from the road side.
  • Raincoat and waterproof boots recommended if you wish to get close
  • For adventurers of any level
  • Out of respect, be cautious not to tread on Iceland’s delicate untouched soils
