During the winter the snow creates a spectacular contrast on the beach below and its volcanic black sand. Watch thousands of birds soar over the cliff faces and feel the coastal winds almost blow you off your feet.

Level: Easy-Medium
  • There is a car park at the lookout, however the uphill gravel road is not suitable for all cars and a 4WD is recommended. (for adventurers of any level)
  • There is also a car park at the bottom of the hill for cars, campers or busses that are not suitable for the gravel road. From here it is a 20 minute uphill walk to reach the lookout (for adventurers of a reasonable fitness level)
  • Caution: The point often attracts strong winds
  • Out of respect, be cautious not to tread on Iceland’s delicate untouched soils
