The fact that Cathedral Cove is only accessible by foot (or boat) is part of the reason it’s so special. There is no need for professional walking gear, go kiwi style with flipflop’s or bare-feet. The path down to the cove has been recently upgraded, so you will do just fine. Although there are often many people down there on a summers day, you may be lucky enough to enjoy the place all to yourself if you get down there early. It’s iconic rock formations draws visitors from all over the world, and was even where they chose to film scenes of Narnia.

Level: Easy-Moderate
  • 45 minute walk down to the cove from the carpark
  • For adventurers with a reasonable fitness level
